In-Yard Process

We want to tell you about our work process

At Athabasca Scrap Metal, we follow a streamlined process to ensure efficient and effective scrap metal management. Our company process typically involves the following steps:

Consultation and Assessment

As soon as customers enter the yard they are directed to our weighing scale where they will be received by the scale representative who will then log them into the system, and collect necessary information to ensure proper documentation.

Customized Solution Design

Once done, the customer will proceed to the corresponding offloading area depending on the type of scrap metal they have brought in.

Scrap Metal Collection

Now our staff will offload them with appropriate equipment. Equipment ranging from forklifts, to material handlers equipped with magnets, are available to ensure proper and safe offloading of materials.

Competitive Pricing and Compensation

Once material has been offloaded customers will return to scale to complete documentation and receive payment.

Reducing Waste, Conserving Resources, and Embracing Sustainability: How Scrap Metal Recycling Benefits Our Planet

Waste Reduction and Landfill Diversion

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that iron and steel scrap constitute about 15% of the total weight of municipal solid waste generated in the United States.

Energy Savings and Reduced Emissions

According to the ISRI, recycling aluminum requires about 95% less energy than producing aluminum from raw materials, leading to reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

Conservation of Natural Resources

Recycling a single aluminum can saves enough energy to power a television for 3 hours or run a 100-watt light bulb for 20 hours. (Source: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency)

Economic Benefits

According to ISRI, the scrap recycling industry in the United States provides over 531,500 direct and indirect jobs and generates over $117 billion in annual economic activity.
